On November 6-7, 2017, a seminar for teachers of higher educational institutions “Reforms in Supervision and Implementation of Macroprudential Regulations in the Banking Sector of Ukraine” was held at the NBU training center. The candidate of economic sciences, associate professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance N. Melnichuk took part in the work.
The participants of the seminar were welcomed by the Director of the NBU Financial Stability Department V. Vavrishchuk.
Speakers of the seminar were senior executives of the National Bank, heads of departments and key specialists of the profile departments. A representative of the World Bank also made a presentation for the participants of the event.
Participants were provided with information on the prospects for the development of the banking system in the context of transformation; approaches to banking supervision based on the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP) identifying the ownership structure of banks and ultimate beneficiaries of banks; the introduction of new capital requirements in accordance with the norms of Basel and EU legislation; stress tests as a tool for diagnosing the banking system; implementation of FINREP and COREP reporting standards; global trends in banking regulation and supervision; the introduction of tools for macroprudential policies and so on.
