The legal clinic “Lawyers without Borders”
This legal clinic is a unit of the National Academy of Statistics, Accounting and Audit and a community-based entity, created to help higher education students in acquiring and consolidating practical knowledge and experiences, and in pursuing legal education activities.
The legal clinic’s operation complies with the Ukrainian law on higher education; the Model Legislative Provision on Legal Clinic in the Higher Education Institution of Ukraine, approved by the Decree of the Ministry for Education and Science of Ukraine from 03.08.2006 No. 592; the Academy’s Statute, Regulations and other normative-legal acts of Ukraine regulating organizational issues in legal clinics within higher education institutions and provision of free legal assistance.
The legal clinic is managed by the director.
Functions of consultants in this legal clinic are carried out by undergraduate students who, under the supervision of mentors and legal practitioners, give clarifications, legal information, verbal or written legal consultations on issues of administrative, land, family, labor, civil law; social security and other fields of law; compile applications, petitions, claims and lawsuits to the court.
Principal areas of the legal clinic’s effort are implemented through extensive collaboration with public and international human rights organizations as well as with centers of free legal assistance.
