Training “Functioning of the ‘CUSTODY RECORDS’ System: Ensuring and Protecting the Rights of Detained Persons”

On May 1, the National Academy of Statistics, Accounting and Audit held a training on the topic “Functioning of the ‘CUSTODY RECORDS’ System: Ensuring and Protecting the Rights of Detained Persons” with the participation of Senior Police Lieutenant Sofia Shchur, Human Rights Compliance Inspector of the River Port Police Department in Kyiv, Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.

The event was moderated by Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Law and Social-Humanitarian Disciplines, PhD in Law Yulia Bohdan.

During the event, the prerequisites for implementing the “Custody Records” system, its features and functioning, as well as the activities of human rights compliance inspectors – persons responsible for the custody and ensuring compliance with the rights of detained persons – were discussed.

In order to guarantee the basic rights of detained persons, prevent violations and eliminate the possibility of groundless accusations against police officers, starting from 2016, Ukraine began the process of implementing the automated accounting system for all actions regarding detained persons – “Custody Records” – in the activities of the National Police of Ukraine.
