The Feast of Maslyana has long been associated with the spring awakening of nature. After the adoption of Christianity, the Orthodox Church included it in its calendar. And since then, Maslyanawas perceived as the best time of the year, which was associated with the family and culinary traditions.
Maslyanalasts a week before the Lent. Every day of this week has its name and its traditions.
The first day is “Meetings”: in the morning the womanhood does Koladkas – a symbol of the continuation of the genus, part of the Tree of Life.
On Tuesday is the day called “Flood”. On this day, the young men look for brides, and girls are looking for husbands. The next day – Wednesday – was called “Lasunets”. It was believed that the richer and happier you will celebrate it, the richer the year will be.
Thursday was traditionally the day of the “Wide Night”. Fifth day – “Tasty party”.
On Saturday people are greeting the holiday.
It was on Wednesday, that a celebration was held at the Academy.
After many years of tradition, students, teachers and administration of the Academy and Kyiv College of Business and Analysts prepared pancakes for all tastes and wishes.
The traditional celebration was started by NASAA’s Rector O. Osaulenko, who warmly congratulated the faculty and students on the holiday, the first days of spring and wished everyone to have the most delicious of feasts.
We weren’t able to pick the winner among the female students the prepared the pancakes. All the dishes were delicious and wholesome. All cooks received words of gratitude and encouraging gifts. Students of the College were singled out for a variety of dishes and a creative approach to cooking.
Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Economics Viktoria Parkhomenko, student of the fourth year of the Accounting and Statistical Faculty of Yulia Maystruk and second year student of Viktoria Tkach welcomed everyone with their charming singing.
Spring dances which, according to Slavic traditions, accompany winter and call for spring to come, have united all the teachers and students.
