European Day of Languages at NASAA

European Day of Languages at NASAA

September 26 is celebrated as the European Day of Languages in EU countries. The main purpose of this day is to encourage language learning, raise awareness about the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe, and promote intercultural understanding. On this day, various events are held, such as language lessons, seminars, lectures, competitions, and cultural events aimed at popularizing language learning among people of all ages.

On this day, we also talk about the Ukrainian language, because since the beginning of the war and the full-scale invasion, the world has seen that the Ukrainian language is one of the occupiers’ targets.

This year, first and second level higher education applicants of NASAA joined the celebration. During the event, students learned about the history of the holiday’s establishment, discussed the importance of learning foreign languages, learned about the meaning of their own names, and participated in interactive activities where they were asked to identify countries by associations, flags, and national currency, and tried to recognize languages by sound by listening to songs from different countries.

The meeting took place in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, which inspired the participants to self-development and encouraged them to learn foreign languages.

The event was moderated by Iryna Stohnii, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages.
